Permission to Practice—May 15, 2020
Barbershops, hair salons, esthetics practices, medical spas, facial spas and day spas, non-medical massage therapy services,* and nail salons may resume business operations in Phase 1 of Reopening Oregon (https://govstatus.egov.com/reopening-oregon#phase1) on May 15, 2020, except in the following counties: Washington, Clackamas, Polk, Multnomah, and Marion. Businesses that reopen should follow state-specific guidance for personal service providers (https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le2342F.pdf).
In addition, the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy (OBMT) met on May 18, 2020, where they discussed creating FAQs for massage therapists. The proposed guidance should be available in the near future on the OBMT website (https://www.oregon.gov/obmt/Pages/index.aspx).
*Medical massage therapy services were already permitted within limited circumstances in the state of Oregon per Executive Order 20-12 (https://www.oregon.gov/obmt/Documents/Notice%20to%20LMTs%20and%20Interested%20Parties%20%28002%29.pdf).
