Senate Bill 87 (SB 87) exempts individuals from licensure who shampoo, condition, dry, style, arrange, dress, hot iron, or curl the hair. Unlicensed individuals who perform these services must receive a hair safety permit upon completing a two-hour hair safety program and a passing score of 75 percent.
The Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) just announced that the Utah State Hair Safety Course and Examination will be available from Prov Inc., DOPL's contracted exam vendor. Information about the exam and how individuals can register will be available at this link.
