The Washington Department of Licensing (DOL) has been working to update cosmetology fees since 2019. Now those fees will be updated, going into effect November 15, 2022, according to the DOL. Collected fees cover the costs of administering cosmetology programs within the state, including expenses associated with IT systems, staffing, and services to support licensees. The last fee increase was in 2010, and the current fees no longer cover the costs of cosmetology programs.
Review the new licensing fee schedule below. If you have questions or concerns, email the DOL at rulescoordinator@dol.wa.gov before October 7, 2022.
