Governor Tina Kotek’s office is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Oregon Board of Cosmetology (Board). The vacancy is open to licensed practitioners (barbers, estheticians, hair designers, nail technologists, or natural hair care license holders.) AHP encourages interested and eligible members to apply for an appointment because it’s a rewarding opportunity to learn about various functions of state government and it provides an important service to the community.

- Be a resident of Oregon
- Hold a current and active license
How Do I Apply?
Visit the governor’s Board & Commission Member Opportunities webpage. Create a Workday Profile using an email and password. After creating your profile and signing in, you will be prompted to search for the board or commission you would like to apply to. Search for the Board of Cosmetology and click on the "apply" button to submit your application.
The application asks for basic information, including your background and why you want to participate on the Board. Submit a copy of your resume, a short autobiography, and answers to supplemental questions. Applicants are also subject to a background check. It is important to disclose any pertinent information.

About the Board
The Board is comprised of seven governor-appointed members who serve four-year terms. Each member of the board is entitled to compensation and expenses. The purpose of the Board is to regulate the practice of cosmetology in Oregon. The Board administers exams; issues certificates, registrations, licenses, and permits to qualified applicants; adopts rules to establish and enforce safety standards, infection control, and professional conduct; suspends, revokes, limits, or imposes probationary activity on a credential-holder; and refers disciplinary matters to the Health Licensing Office.
