Pursuant to the enactment of Georgia HB 314, effective July 1, 2015, the Georgia State Board of Barbers and the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology will combine to create a new board called the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers.
The new Board will consist of nine members who will be appointed by the Governor for a term of three years. The Board will operate under the current rules and regulations of the Georgia State Board of Barbers and Georgia State Board of Cosmetology until the Board issues one set of rules and regulations which will govern both barbering and cosmetology. Those new rules must be issued by July 1, 2016.
Georgia HB 314 makes other changes to the cosmetology and barbering law as well, such as changes to the examination and application by endorsement requirements.
