Vacancy on the Florida Board of Cosmetology

Your voice, experience, and industry knowledge are valuable assets to your practice, and they could contribute to the Florida Board of Cosmetology (Board). The Department of Business and Professional Regulation supports Governor Ron DeSantis in appointing qualified individuals into important leadership roles. The Board is seeking one cosmetologist to fill a vacancy on the Board.

Being a board member is an excellent opportunity to combine the cosmetology community’s collective viewpoints, visions, and hopes for Florida. We encourage you to apply—serving on a board is a way to become more engaged in your profession and learn about state government.

Am I Qualified?
Board members must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a Florida resident for at least five continuous years
  2. Be a Florida-licensed cosmetologist
  3. Have been practicing cosmetology in Florida for at least five years

How Do I Apply?
All applications must be completed and submitted online. Qualified and interested individuals can apply for a Board appointment here. You will need to submit an appointment questionnaire, demographic and personal information, and a resume and cover letter. Reference letters are optional. About the Board
The Board is responsible for licensing and regulating cosmetologists, nail specialists, facial specialists, full specialists, hair braiders, hair wrappers, body wrappers, and cosmetology salons. Its primary mission is to protect public health, safety, and welfare. The board meets regularly to review license applications, conduct informal disciplinary hearings, and draft new rules as needed.
