Governor Whitmer extended an executive order regarding no removal of face masks for services, which includes facials and beard trims.
Governor Whitmer issued a new Emergency Order that prohibits services requiring the temporary removal of masks, such as facials and beard trims. The order is in effect from November 18 to December 8, 2020.
On June 5, 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order (EO) 2020-114 (https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/MIEOG/2020/06/05/file_attach...), allowing massage therapists, estheticians, hair salons, barbershops, and nail professionals to resume business operations. Zones 6 and 8 (Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula) will reopen June 10, 2020. The remainder of the state will reopen June 15, 2020.
On May 22, 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-99 (https://www.michigan.gov/whitmer/0,9309,7-387-90499_90705-530039--,00.html), extending the declaration of state of emergency through June 19, 2020.
There have been many changes in the massage therapy and cosmetology industries and communities in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus). In Michigan, perhaps the most impact was felt across businesses mandated to close. ABMP, ASCP, AHP, and ANP have summarized below Executive Orders regarding COVID-19 in the state of Michigan, and we encourage you to pay special attention to the CARES Act outlined at the bottom of this email, which addresses financial aid and unemployment benefits.
